The Bagalamukhi Sarva Dosha Shanti Yagam is a Vedic ritual ceremony performed every Amavasya evening at the Sree Suryamangalam Bagalamukhi Devi Temple in Tirunelveli. It is the Peetam's central vehicle for Sarva Dosha Shanthi — the pacification of all afflictions and doshas through offerings made into the sacred fire in the presence of the Goddess.
The word Sarva means "all" — this is not a targeted ritual for one specific dosha, but a comprehensive intervention across every form of obstruction a person may carry: astrological imbalances, legal entanglements, interpersonal conflicts, and the effects of hostile or negative forces.
Devotees who cannot travel to Tirunelveli may participate fully through a remote sankalp. The chief acharya recites each participant's name, gothram, nakshatra, and stated purpose during the yagam, ensuring that the benefit of the ritual reaches them regardless of physical distance.

This mantra is the seed invocation of Goddess Bagalamukhi — the paralyser of enemies and all adverse forces. During the yagam, the acharyas chant this mantra in sustained repetition while making offerings into the sacred fire, directing the Goddess's power specifically towards each sankalp participant's stated purpose.

A four-hour ceremony conducted in six stages by the temple acharyas, beginning at 6:00 PM every Amavasya. Each stage has a specific function within the ritual framework.
The chief acharya recites each devotee's name, gothram, nakshatra, and stated purpose, formally dedicating the ritual to their welfare. Remote participants have their sankalp read aloud exactly as in-person devotees.
The acharyas perform extended, counted repetition of the Bagalamukhi moola mantra — the Stambhana mantra directed at all hostile forces. This is the heart of the ritual, lasting approximately two hours.
Sanctified oblations — specific herbs, grains, and materials prescribed in the Atharvana Veda for Bagalamukhi worship — are offered into the yagakunda (fire pit) with each mantra recitation.
A single large final offering marks the completion of the ritual and the formal sealing of the yagam's benefit for all sankalp participants. The Goddess is thanked and the protective field established.

Vibhuti (sacred ash) and kumkum blessed during the yagam are prepared as prasadam packets for each sankalp participant and dispatched by Speed Post after each Amavasya yagam.
