The Keeper of the Sacred Fire

Behind the Sankalp — Swamiji's 20-Year Yaagaagni

Rajaguru Brahmasri Guruvayur Vishvamithra Gothra Suryan Namboothiry Acharyar (Peetathipathi) — founder of Sree Suryamangalam Advaitha Veda Vidhya Peetam

Every photograph in this gallery — every flame that dances in these frames — exists because of one man's unbroken commitment. Rajaguru Brahmasri Sri Suryan Namboodiry Swamiji, trained in the Atharvana Veda tradition from Guruvayur, established Sree Suryamangalam as South India's first consecrated Bagalamukhi Devi temple.

For over 20 years, the Yaagaagni — the sacred fire of the Peetam — has not been extinguished. Every Amavasya, every Pournami, every Ganapathi Homam at dawn: the fire is lit, the sankalp is read, the oblations are offered. Rain, pandemic, or festival — the ceremony does not pause.

Swamiji's discourses on the Atharvana Veda, his teachings on the Bagalamukhi Devi Mahatmya, and his personal guidance to thousands of devotees form the living tradition that these photographs document. To see the gallery is to witness this continuity.
