Rajaguru Brahmasri Guruvayur Vishvamithra Gothra Suryan Namboothiry Acharyar (Peetathipathi) · Founder, Sree Suryamangalam
From his earliest years, Guruji was drawn not to ordinary learning but to the older sciences — Astrology and Thaanthric Sastras — which he pursued with a seriousness few practitioners bring to their studies. His grounding is in the Atharvana Veda, the Veda that governs the procedure of Yaagas and Homams, and his life's work has been to keep that procedure alive and accessible.
Over four decades of practice, he has read horoscopes for politicians, industrialists, bureaucrats, and ordinary householders — across India and from abroad. The Prasana Sastra, the branch of predictive astrology conducted through direct enquiry rather than a written horoscope, is where he is perhaps most widely known. Guruji's counsel has consistently been offered not to flatter, but to inform.
In recognition of his scholarship across Hindu Veda Sastra, Astrology, and Thaantric Sastra, he was conferred the titles Rajaguru and Aasthana Vidwan by Sri Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. The foundation stone of the Bagalamukhi Devi Temple at Pappankulam was blessed by His Holiness Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Sankaracharya Swamiji — an honour that remains at the heart of this temple's identity.
The milestones that shaped a scholar, a guide, and a builder of sacred space.
Born in Guruvayur, Kerala, Guruji showed an early and uncommonly sustained interest in Astrology and Thaanthric Sastras. While other children moved toward conventional paths, he gravitated toward rare and ancient collections of texts — studying not for credentials, but for understanding.
Guruji undertook deep study of the Atharvana Veda — the Veda specifically concerned with the procedures for Yaagas and Homams in Hindu tradition. This grounding gave his practice of ritual fire a textual and procedural exactness that is rare among contemporary practitioners.
Over four decades, Guruji has sat with politicians, industrialists, VIPs, bureaucrats, and countless ordinary families — listening, reading, and advising. In Prasana Sastra, his method is precise: verify that a horoscope belongs to the person who brings it, then present what the chart actually says, without embellishment.
Guruji founded the Peetam as an institutional home for Vedic learning and practice — a place where the tradition of Atharvana Veda ritual could be sustained with proper scholarship, continuity, and community. The Peetam is the parent body of the Bagalamukhi Devi Temple.
Guruji conceived and established the Sree Bagalamukhi Devi Temple at Therkku Paappankulam, Tirunelveli — the second temple to Bagalamukhi Devi in India, after the temple in Himachal Pradesh. The temple was built to bring the form of Peetambara Devi to South India for the first time in this tradition.

The foundation stone of the temple was consecrated with the blessing of His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Sankaracharya Swamiji of the Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetathipathi Jagadguru — one of the most significant acknowledgements a temple of this kind can receive.
Moments from the Homams and Yagams conducted at Sree Bagalamukhi Devi Temple, led by Guruji in the Atharvana Veda tradition of ritual fire.
Guruji's counsel spans four broad areas, each rooted in the Vedic and Thaanthric traditions he has studied for a lifetime.
Jathaka analysis grounded in Prasana Sastra — covering dasha-bhukti, planetary transits, marriage compatibility, career direction, and inherited doshas. Guruji reads the chart as it stands, not as the devotee wishes it to be.
Ritual fire procedures drawn from Atharvana Veda for life-event remediation — illness, obstruction, ancestral karma, house consecration, and major transitions. Each sankalp is prepared with your gothram and nakshatra.
Personal sadhana direction, mantra initiation for sincere seekers, and guidance on establishing a daily practice. Diksha is offered after a personal meeting — not given lightly.
For senior spiritual aspirants with established practice. Counsel in Thaanthric Sastra is offered at Guruji's personal discretion, following an assessment of the devotee's readiness and intent.
"India is a land of Vedas and Spirituality. With the passing of time, we have forgotten the original purpose of Vedas, their mantras, and their sacrifices in our lives. This temple exists so that the ancient fire of Atharvana Veda ritual does not go out — and so that any devotee, wherever they are in the world, may approach the Devi, complete their sankalp, and receive her grace."
— Sri Sri Suryan Namboothiry Guruji
Founder, Sree Suryamangalam Advaitha Veda Vidhya Peetam
Spoken in Guruji's own voice, this is the message that frames every homam, every sankalp, and every conversation that takes place at our temple.
"How one should live is a question that is fundamental to human existence. I am sure you would have wondered how you must conduct yourself and spend your life on earth — how to enjoy the health, prosperity, happiness and peace that is rightfully yours, and how to live with the compassion and wisdom that frees us from the cycle of birth and death."
"India is a land of Vedas and spirituality. The Vedas are a source of rich knowledge — not just in the spiritual context but also in the material, cultural and scientific dimensions of life. With the passing of time we have forgotten the original purpose and relevance of the Vedas, its accompanying mantras and yajnas, in our daily lives. It would not be an exaggeration to say that this negligence has been a major cause of our fallen and miserable state today."
"It is wise at this juncture to remember what the Lord said in the Bhagavad Gita — that regular sacrifice and offerings to the divine are of the utmost importance, for they bring rain, which provides food, which in turn sustains life on this planet. Many of us have witnessed nature's wrath in recent years; those events are gentle reminders of the existence and omnipresence of God, and of the need to turn our attention back to our prime duty — paying respect to the Lord."
"Aadhi Parashakthi is the original creator, protector and destroyer of the world — the leader of all gods, and the remover of distress for those who take refuge in her. She protects those who are eternally being swallowed by the cycle of anxiety and difficulties in life. The Dasa Maha Vidhyas are the ten cosmic personalities through which the one Truth is sensed — Mathangi, Bhuvaneswari, Bagalamukhi, Thripurasundari, Tara, Kaali, Kamala, Chinnamasta, Bhoomadevi and Bhairavi."
"Bagalamukhi Devi is the symbol of prosperity and abundance — a combination of divine form, goodness, and the primeval female force. It is believed that the Bagalamukhi mantra has the power to appease Lord Shiva himself. To worship her at our temple is to take refuge in that wisdom, that protection, and that strength."
